This is important research about how our kids begin to understand math at a young age– and what we parents can do to encourage the process.
It can’t be all reading, all the time. And it turns out that just as the kids who are read to learn the letters and their sounds and have an easier transition to reading, the same is true for numbers. Kids need to learn ‘number system knowledge’ – basically what numbers mean and understanding how they work, and parents can easily impact the process.
It turns out that this math learning process begins very early, and the kids that don’t get it struggle big time later on.
