Having blogged for you about the adorable animal faced cupcakes got me thinking about a zoo party for the kids. Not a zoo themed party, an actual zoo party!
Going to the zoo was always a treat in my house, and as far as my kids were concerned we couldn’t go too often. It’s generally not the most expensive place you can go, and if you call ahead with a large enough group you may get a deal on the price. Zoos are one of the government run sectors that are being badly pinched in this economy, so any monies you spend at the zoo will be appreciated and supportive of their efforts.
Your zoo may also make a party space available to you – even if it’s just a couple of picnic tables. Be sure to call and find our where you can do your ‘birthday’ – i.e. your cake or cupcakes.
If you’ve got enough willing and semi-artistic helpers, you might want to do animal face paints on the kids before you leave for the zoo. If you’ve got a separate space for you party at the zoo you could do face painting there; just be sure your placed so as not to be asked by every passing child to paint them.
Needless to say, the jungle animal cupcakes would be the perfect thing for your zoo party.
For your invitation- grab a photo or clip art on-line of a favorite zoo animal, print it on cardstock and properly place/print your invitation wording on the back. Size it so that when you cut the animal out of the cardstock it will fit in your envelope.
I’m not generally a fan of doing birthday parties outside the home, but the zoo is such a special and educational place you really can’t go wrong. And all those wonderful things to see and learn about make your zoo party one of the easiest kids party themes you can do.
