Birthday Party Games- Cookin' and a Dancin'

Ice CreamEvery birthday party has to have ice cream, and this ice cream is truly a scream!

Check out this YouTube video on making ice cream. Don’t think it it’s too hard for kids or too expensive because you need an ice cream machine or too messy- because you’d be wrong. Check it out! All you need are milk, sugar, salt, ice, a large and a small zipper close plastic bag (for each child), vanilla extract or cocoa powder and mittens. Chocolate or butterscotch chips are optional, but nice.

The methodology here is shaking, which is close cousin to dancing, which makes this both cooking and an activity or game, all at the same time. And a great finish to your cooking party.

After the main cooking and eating of your cooking party is finished, there’s still the mandatory cake and ice cream. You’ll have made the cake, and the kids can now make the ice cream and shake out some of the sillies that are probably in there. Pick some great, fast paced music, and create a nice open space (outside would be perfect) and let them loose. You can offer a simple/silly prize for their dancing efforts. Maybe a banana split at the local ice cream shop with your child some hot summer day?

Kids as young as 10 can probably hold up through the required 7 to 10 minutes of shaking/dancing to end up with ice cream- I’d be concerned younger ones would quit too soon and end up with glop.

Add this in to your pre-teens or young teens sleepover party, where they’ve made their own pizza and can dance around in their PJ’s and you’ve got a real winning combination.

You better be prepared to keep the ingredients around the house- your kids are going to want to be doing this again and again. So- it’s a good idea to include little recipe cards for this ice cream in your take-home bags for all the party kids. You can print one from my website.

Cooking is just one of many kids party themes that you can find on our website.
