Birthday Party Games- Capt'n Hook

Pirate with Hook

There’s some interesting ideas for pirate birthday party games that has shown up over at ehow.com that I want to share with you here.

My favorite  let’s all your party guests become Captain Hook for this pirate birthday party game. Remember- your young buccaneers don’t just pretend. Those vibrant imaginations often let them actually transform.

Take a plastic glass big enough that their hands will fit totally inside, but snugly. Encase it in black electric tape so it’s not see through and it’s appropriately sinister looking. Cut a slit in the bottom for the hook.

You can either use a wrapped candy cane for the hook as suggested at ehow.com or make a more realistic looking hook. You can cut a coat hanger and shape it like a hook and then tape it all up with silver duct tape both for looks and to pad the end for safety. Create a flange on the end that stays inside the cup that you can secure it to the cup with more duct tape so the hook stays in place.

Have a bowl or other container full of edibles or little prizes that all have a loop on them- pretzels are perfect but you can create loops with wire around other items. Passing the hook from one Capt’n to the next, the kids have to hook as many items as they can in, say, 30 seconds. Turn this into the ‘exit’ game for your party where the items they hook are their take home party favors for the kids from your pirate birthday.

Pirate birthday party games that ends up giving each pirate their party favors- a double win!
