I’m almost never in favor of spending money on party ‘stuff’, but this is so perfect for your pirate birthday party and so inexpensive, even with shipping, that I will make an exception.
A take off on police ‘caution tape’, cordon off your entry way, inside or out, with this ‘Beware of Pirates‘ tape, and the kids will be all abuzz when they arrive at your party.
If you’re as bad as me about spending money on this type of party gimmickry, make it with your printer. No need to spend the ink/money on a black background, but use an attractive font and colors on plain white paper cut to about 3″ wide and taped or glued together to form a long tape. Conversely, buy a roll of 3″ colored duct tape (enough that it can be doubled so there’s no sticky stuff sticking out) and make your own decoration with colored sharpie markers.
You might also be interested in the ‘Beware of Pirates’ 3-D Yard sign on the right hand side of the page referenced above. Again, grab yourself a good graphic from the web and make your own yard sign if that’s more your thing.
Have you thought about involving older siblings in the younger ones party by asking them to be part of the party preparation? Making such things as ‘Beware of Pirates’ yard signs or tape is a good activity for the older ones and gets them into the younger ones pirate birthday celebration.
Especially when they’re little, your birthday party decorations needn’t be sophisticated or expensive to do what they’re supposed to do- get everyone in the mood for a party and ready to stay focused on the fun activities you have in store.
