Birthday Party Crafts- Kite Paper Stars

Kite Paper Stars

Bring in the sunshine with these beautiful paper stars that remind me of sun catchers, even on a rainy day!

These birthday party crafts are made using a very simple folding technique and a shiny wax paper called kite paper, and they are easy to make for the kids. Follow the link on Urban Paisley’s page for the folding directions, and I found the paper on-line (scroll about ½ way down the page to get to the ‘Transparency Star-Making Paper’).

Kite paper stars are far less expensive and much easier for kids to manage than actually making sun catchers! The real thing requires glass, soldering, etc., and makes a wonderful together project where you can provide extensive supervision, but is probably not appropriate as a party activity. There are other, simpler sun catcher craft activities that I will talk about in future blog posts. Kite paper stars are about the easiest of the bunch, and should cost you under $10 for your group to make- the price of the paper.

Encourage them to experiment with their colors and the patterns of color. A little education along with their fun never hurt anybody.

Urban Paisley’s 10 year old boys apparently enjoyed this activity, so it should work for boys as well as girls as a birthday party craft activity, and that’s always a good thing. You can also bring out this kids activity on any rainy indoor afternoon to brighten things up.

Send their creations home with the kids – one less thing to buy for those goody bags.

We post all good ideas for birthday party crafts that we find on our website for your easy reference.
