Need 7 year old girls birthday party ideas that keep them all Fully Engaged for a couple of hours? You Found It!
Our Survivor Party...
[perfect for mixed groups of boys and girls as well)
A concept that has them interested before they even arrive, then a bunch of quick games that has them laughing and thinking and being silly.
All designed to keep them focused on what you want them focused on for the whole time!
And that's the secret: good games that grab their interest and keep them 'in the game' and not making trouble.
Any party for 7 year old girls needs:
A good mix of physical and mental activity so they don't get all squirmy and can retain their focusGirls can handle a bit more cerebral challenge (quantity, not quality) than boys at this age, and, of course, they love the artsy-crafty stuff. All kids this age still have very active imaginations- grab that and you're half way home! Give them a concept they can really buy into, like the 'survivor' concept, and they'll fly with it, stay involved in your planned activities and have a blast.
These girls ARE only 7...
All your game instructions need to be crystal-clear, simple and easy-to-follow.
Keep all your activities within their developmental capabilities: these can have a VERY wide range in any group of 7 year olds, so DON'T assume everybody is at the same level as your child- plan for differences:
Attention spans remain short,, probably no more than 15 monutes, so don't let your games or activities drag much past this time limit. Be flexible and move things along even before this time period if things are dragging.
Take away any individual pressure by making as many activities as possible a team effort.
Make sure your intellectual challenges are age appropriate, otherwise frustration will ensue and make the group harder to control. That being said, don't be afraid to include such challenges- kids really do enjoy using their brains and being able to do what's being aksed of them
Social skills are still developing, so in addition to limiting the parties total size, keep teams (which often require working together) small.
More tips for a 7 year olds party:
Your party kids will be enticed and excited by an interesting theme, especially if it hints at something new and different from all the other parties they go to seemingly every weekend. Just make sure the new and different isn't perceived as frightening. You do need to know your group of kids.
Once intrigued, the kids will willingly follow your lead and focus on the planned activities
DON'T invite the whole class. The more kids you have, the less control you have and the group's dynamics can get ahead of you. And, the larger the group, potentially the more 'pressure' on the birthday girl that can contribute to that dreaded melt-down.
Keep everybody involved most all the time- don't ask the kids to wait their turn.
Aside from the expense, the 'take them somewhere to do something' places often only feature one activity , which can go stale more quickly than your time frame and leave you with a bunch of difficult kids on your hands.
Follow these 'rules' and you'll have a truly successful party for your girl.

Every kid is different, different in their personality, their interests, their development level. Kids between the ages of 6 and 8 share many traits and interests, and my 8 year old can be into and enjoy things your 6 year old loves to do, and vice versa. My girl can adore doing the things your boys like, and vice versa. So I group my party ideas into a 6 to 8 age bracket- gender neutral.
